Preparing for Contact
Saturday, February 7 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm Room: Marina
As increasing numbers of mainstream scientists say that it's only a matter of time before extraterrestrial life is discovered, what will be the societal impact? Will there be panic in the streets, a collapse of political and economic systems, and a decline in religious belief, or will life carry on much the same as before? And what if the scientific community wants to disclose, but the government says no? Nick Pope has looked at these issues from within government, and in this never-before delivered workshop will explore some of the surprising ways in which First Contact/Disclosure might unfold.
Nick Pope worked for the British Government for 21 years and spent three years running the Ministry of Defense's UFO project. He now works as a journalist and broadcaster, specializing in the unexplained, conspiracy theories, fringe science, defense, intelligence and the scientific search for extraterrestrial life.
